Condensed milk is cow’s milk from which water has been removed.Condensed milk used in so many recipes like pudding , ice cream , cake , sweets. Homemade condensed milk is very easy to make at home, no preservatives and also cheaper.
- Sugar/honey –1/2 cup
- Milk -1 liter
- Baking soda – 1/2 tsp
- Vanilla essence-1 tsp
Step 1 – Take milk in big thick bottom/nonstick pan and boil it, adjust flame and cook milk until it get thick(1/2 of original volume). Stir it with regular interval.
Step 2 – Add sugar and cook 2 minutes. Add baking soda cook it 5 more minutes until it get thick(1/3 of original volume) , remove from heat(do not over cook the milk otherwise it will turn solid once it cools down) .Add vanilla essence and mix well.
Step 3 –Cool it completely and store in tight jar with lid and keep in freezer,it stays good for 2 months.
NOTE : Stir it regular interval.After chilled it become more thick so do not over reduce milk (total cooking time is 15-20 minutes).
