Greek yogurt(strained yogurt) is yogurt that has been strained to remove most of its whey, resulting in a thicker consistency then untrained yogurt. Strained yogurt contains a higher protein density,low sodium then regular yogurt. Greek yogurt is full of protein and fruits contain full of fiber both make perfect breakfast.Using Greek yogurt varieties of dishes can be made; which is loved by everyone. For Greek yogurt first will make Yogurt, then will make 1- Fruit Yogurt, 2-Caremom Shrikhand, 3-Greek Yogurt bark .
Yogurt
Ingredients
- Milk – 1 liter
- Yogurt – 2 tbsp( for starter)
Method
Step 1 – Take milk in large bowl and boil it.Remove from heat and cool it till lukewarm .
Step 2 – Add yogurt and stir it and keep in warm place ( near stove top/inside oven) for 2-3 hours till set completely.
Step 3 –Keep set yogurt in refrigerator for 1 hours.After 1 hour it is ready for use /it can stay good for a week.
Greek yogurt
Ingredients
- Yogurt –1liter
- Kitchen towel/Kitchen tissue paper thick one
Method-
Step 1 –Strain the yogurt- Put the 2-3 kitchen thick tissue paper in a colander and put colander in a large bowl to catch the whey . Put yogurt in the colander .Cover colander with 2 more thick tissue paper.
Step 2 –Keep colander in refrigerator for 3 – 4 hours(overnight). Remove tissue paper and collect thick Greek yogurt in a bowl . It is ready for use /it can stay good for a week(store in airtight glass bowl) .
Fruit yogurt
Greek yogurt is full of protein and fruits contain full of fiber both make perfect breakfast.
Ingredients (Serving-2 )
- Greek yogurt – 1cup
- Maple syrup/honey/agave nectar-2 tbsp
- Fresh fruits strawberry, blue berry-1/2 cup
- Lemon juice-1/2 tsp(optional)
- Vanilla essence- some drop
Method
Step 1 –Chopped strawberry and blueberry and keep in freezer for 15 minutes.
Step2-In blander take cooled fruits and honey and bland it make smooth puree.Pour puree in a bowl and strain it(optional), collect puree.
Step3-In a bowl take Greek yogurt , puree,lemon juice,vanilla essence and mix it gentle. Keep in refrigerator for 10 minutes .
Enjoy fresh fruit yogurt !!!!!
Cardamom Shrikhand
Shrikhand is classic and one of the best yogurt base dessert . In India, Maharastra and Gujrat Srikhand is a part of meal . qaIt is made with fresh yogurt , honey and flavored with cardamom, saffron.
Ingredients (Serving-2 )
- Greek yogurt – 1cup
- Cardamom powder-2 tsp
- Saffron- some strands
- Rose water-1/2tsp
- Maple syrup/honey/agave nectar-2 tbsp
- Pistachio chopped-2 tbsp
Method
Step 1–Take Greek yogurt in a bowl add honey, and mix with spoon, till thick and creamy it will take 3-5 minutes. Add cardamom powder,saffron, rose water and pistachio , mix again with spoon .Keep in refrigerator for 30 minutes .
Enjoy chilled Cardemom Shrikhand !!!!!!!
Greek yogurt bark
Greek yogurt bark is bark made with fresh fruits, seeds and Greek yogurt.
Ingredients (Serving-2 )
- Greek yogurt – 1cup
- Desiccated coconut-2 tsp
- Maple syrup/honey/agave nectar-2 tbsp
- Fresh fruits strawberry, blue berry-1/2 cup
- Lemon juice-1/2 tsp(optional)
- Vanilla essence- some drop
- Melon seeds/almond flakes/pumpkin seed-2 tbsp
Method
Step 1- Line baking tray /any type tray with butter paper, keep aside. Chopped fruits and keep aside.
Step 2 –Take Greek yogurt in bowl add honey,lemon juice,vanilla essence and mix it.Pour yogurt in to butter paper and spread it proper. Put fruits on top of yogurt , sprinkle seeds and desiccated coconut and keep in freeze for 3-4 hours. Enjoy guilt free yogurt fruit bark .

When making Greek yogurt, do you strain the yogurt before it sets?
I presume you that whole milk gives you thicker yogurt?

No need to strain ..important thing here to transfer set yogurt quickly in refrigerator.. whole milk and low fat milk gives almost similar output. Thank you 🙏
