Lentil and vegetable based healthy delicious Spinach Dal is jewel of every North Indian meal.Spinach Dal is perfect combination of spinach ,lentil,garlic and spices.
Ingredients(2 serving)
- Tuar dal – 1/2 cup
- Onion – 1/2 cup finely chopped
- Fresh fenugreek leaves- 1 cup chopped
- Garlic-3-4 cloves
- Tomato – 1 cup finely chopped
- Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
- Green chili-1 slit length wise
- Salt – 1/2, tsp to taste
- Whole red chili – 2
- Bay leaf-1-2
- Mustard seed-1/2 tsp
- Cumin seed – 1/2 tsp
- Cooking oil/clarified butter-2 tbsp
Method
Step 1 – Wash dal and pressure cook with 4 whistles then for 2-3 minutes on low flame. Keep it aside.
Step2 – Heat oil in nonstick pan and add mustard seed. When seed crackle add cumin seed, whole red chili, bay leaf,garlic ,add chopped onions and cook it2-3 minutes till golden brown,add chopped fenugreek leaves cook 3-4 minutes till leaves completely dry ,add chopped tomatoes cook 2-3 minutes ,add red chili powder, salt,turmeric powder mix it proper, cook for 2 minutes.
Step4- Add cooked dal and cook in low flame for 3-5 minutes. Switch of flame. Serve with roti/rice.
