Masala Chai(spiced milk tea)

Indian traditional Masala Chai is a aromatic spice flavored ,refreshing tea.

Ingredients ( servings-2)

  • Tea Leves-2 tbsp
  • Milk -2 cup
  • Water-1/2 cup
  • Cardamom – 2 pieces
  • Clove-2 pieces
  • Peppercorn-3-4 pieces
  • Cinnamon stick-small piece
  • Ginger-1/2 tsp grated
  • Sugar-2 tsp as per taste
  • Tea strainer

Step 1  – Take milk in sauce pan boil it,keep aside.Take all spices and crush  coarsely with mortar- pestle.

Step 2 –In a sauce pan add water,tea leaf all spices and boil it  2-3 minutes.Add boiled milk and boil it 2-3 more minutes so all spices blend with milk and give perfect color and taste.Add sugar and boil it till sugar melt.

Step 3 –Pour the tea through a tea strainer directly in  two cups.

Enjoy Refreshing Masal Chai  with cookies/snacks.

  5. Never tried making Masala chai at home, although I add crushed cardamom seeds or ginger at times to get the flavor. It seems like a simple recipe thanks for this! 🙂
    Buying masala chai teabags are as far as I’ve forayed into preparing it :’D

  6. In England we can buy masala chai teabags, but they’re not nearly as good as the real thing, so I don’t use them. It’s nice to have a recipe, so I can make my own… and it means I can adjust the ingredients to my taste, maybe adding extra cinnamon and having less cloves.

    1. Thanks Jane, agree real chai taste doesn’t come from tea bag. This needs to be prepared fresh. It’s very easy as I have described in my recipe and as you have mentioned ingredients can be adjusted as per your taste 👍
