Bottle gourd Raita(Lauki Raita)

Curd is popular dairy product. It’s good for kids, digestion & immune system, teeth and bone. It is essential nutrients for all age.Bottle gourd and curd  both are cooling  foods  and perfect with paratha/biryani’s.Also Bottle gourd raita served as a salad.


  • Curd – 2 cups
  • Bottle gourd – 1 cup( peel, grated)
  • Cumin powder –  1 tsp
  • Black pepper  seed –3-4
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander seed  – 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – 1 tbs
  • Curry leaves-5-6 (optional)
  • Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Cashew nut-3-4 pieces
  • Raisins-8-10 pieces
  • Pomegranate seed-1/2 cup



Step 1 –Heat one pan add 1 tsp oil,add cashew nut and black pepper corn,curry leaves cook till crunchy ,remove from pan keep aside.In same pan add grated bottle gourd and cook 2-3minutes till dry and soft.  Cool it and keep it aside

Step 2 – Whisk curd in a bowl

Step 3 –  Take a large bowl and add all spices,cooled bottle gourd,salt raisins,pomogranet seed,and mix it properly then add whisk curd

Step 4 – Garnish with chopped coriander leaves,cashew nut,curry leaves  and chill it for 15-20 minutes. Enjoy this healthy Raita with any main course.
