Batata vada is a very popular street food in Maharashatra India.Batata vada popular snack in all over India.In India each state follows slightly different recipe of Batata vada.Batata Vada is deep fried savory snack made with soft spicy potato.In Maharashtra Batata vada is not very spicy,no garam masala use in recipe, just boiled potato is tempering into garlic-chili.
Ingredients (For 10 pieces)
- Chick pea flour – 1cup
- Rice flour-1 tbsp
- Baking soda-1/2 tsp
- Salt- 1/2 tsp as per taste
- For Stuffing
- Potato-2 boiled,soft
- Salt-1/2 tsp
- Mustered seed-1/2 tsp
- Cumin seed-1 tsp
- Garlic -2-3 finely chopped
- Green chili – 2 finely chopped
- Coriander leaves – 2 tsp finely chopped
- Cooking oil – For deep frying
Step 1– Break potato roughly small pieces,add salt,keep aside.Crush toeghter,garlic,chili,coriander leaves with the help of mortar pastel,keep aside.
Step 2 – In nonstick pan add 1tbsp oil add mustard seed,when seed crackle add cumin seed add crushed garlic- chili saute it 30 seconds,pour this tempering into boiled potato mix well ,cover it 5 minutes.
Step3-Make lemon size ball from stuffing,keep aside.
Step4-In bowl take chickpea flour,rice flour,salt,baking soda ,water mix it, make thick smooth batter.
Step 5 – Heat oil for frying on medium hot oil.
Step 6 – Dip potato balls into the batter and slide on hot oil,fry it 3-4 minutes, till all sides golden brown .Remove from oil and keep in tissue paper.Serve as snack with green chutney/as vada pav with pav.
