Paneer Amritsari(Punjabi recipe)

 Paneer Amritsari originated from North India and one of very classic dish. This is available on all good Indian restaurant menu.  Indian cottage cheese(Paneer)  flavored with spices and gram flour.Paneer Amritsari  is healthy and  delicious recipe. Flavor is between of paneer tikka and paneer pakora  in Paneer Amritsari.


  • Paneer – 250 grams (homemade)
  • Hung curd-2 tbsp(homemade)
  • Chat masala/mango powder/pomegranate powder-1 tsp
  • Gram flour – 3 tsp
  • Kasuri Methi-1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder – 1tbs
  • Coriander powder
  • Black paper powder – 1tbs
  • Salt- 1/2 tsp( as per taste)
  • Cooking oil -2 tbsp
  • Onion – 1 finely chopped
  • Garlic-1tsp paste
  • Ginger-1 tsp paste
  • Red chili powder-1 tbs
  • Garam masala-1 tbs
  • Lemon juice-1 tsp


Step 1 –Cut paneer in to cubes,also cut onion  and yellow bell paper in to dice.Keep aside.

Step 2 –In bowl take gram flour,all spices (except kasuri methi),hung curd,1 tsp oil, mix well.Add paneer ,onion,bell paper mix gently,cover it ,keep in fridge for 20-30 minutes  .

Step 3 –  Heat 2 tbsp oil in nonstick pan,in medium heat place marinated paneer,onion,bell paper gentle  cook 1-2 minutes.Turn it other sides add kasuri methi and cook 2-3 minutes till all sides golden brown.Remove from heat serve hot as a appetizer/starter/Snacks.
