Green Peas Upma

Upma is popular in India very healthy, nutritious, easy to digest, rich in fiber ,low calorie food. This is recommended for all age group. Upma  is good option for breakfast,lunch box.Made with semolina,vegetables and flavored with mustard seed,whole red chili,curry leaves .

  Ingredients (For 2 serving)


  • Semolina – 1 cup
  • Whole red chili-2-3
  •  Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal-1 tsp
  • Mustard seed – 1 tsp
  • Green peas-1 cup
  • Cashew nut- 6 to 8
  • Green chili- 1
  • Coriander leaves-2 tsp for garnishing
  • Curry leaf- 7 to 8
  • Onion-1/2 cup finely chopped
  • Cooking oil – 2 tbsp

Method


 

Step 1 – Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan add semolina roast it 3-5 minutes till golden brown in color keep aside.

Step2-Heat 2 tbsp oil in pan add mustard seed when seed crackle add urad dal cook till golden brown add,whole red chili,curry leaves,cashew nut,green chili,  cook 30 seconds,add chopped onion cook till golden in color add green peas mix it cover it and cook 2-4 minuted ,add salt,semolina mix well(so semolina flavored with spices )pour  2 cup boiled water mix it gently and cover it cook in low flame till semolina absorbed all water and looks puffy it will take 5-10 minutes  ,remove from heat and do not open cover for 5-10 minutes.After 5-10 minutes add lemon juice and coriander leaves mix well serve it.
