Tacos(Mexican Dish)

Taco is a traditional Mexican dish normally eaten without utensils. Taco is made with corn tortilla/wheat tortilla with red beans,salsa,guacamole,lettuce,sour cream fillings.Taco shell made in different variation hard – shell tacos,soft – shell tacos,puffy tacos.Guacamole made with avocado,cilantro,lemon juice.Assembled tacos serve immediate.

  Ingredients (serving-10)

For taco shell

  • All purpose flour/Wheat flour-1/2 cup
  • Yellow Corn meal – 1 cup
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp for kneading
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Water – 1/2 cup

For kidney beans topping-

  • Red kidney beans-1 cup
  • Red chili flakes-2 tsp
  • Black paper powder – 1 tsp
  • Mix Italian herbs – 1 tbsp(optional)
  • Salt-1/2 tsp
  • Garlic paste-1tsp
  • Onion-2 tbsp finely chopped
  • Tomato puree-1/2 cup
  • Tomato sauce-1 tbsp
  • Cooking oil


For Salsa-

  • Tomato-1 cup(deep in boiled water then chopped)
  • Oregano dried-1 tsp
  • Red chili flakes-1 tsp
  • Cilantro-2 tbsp finely chopped
  • Garlic-3-4 cloves finely chopped
  •  Onion-2 tbsp finely chopped
  • Red/yellow/green bell paper-2 tbsp finely chopped
  • Lemon juice-1 tsp
  •  Salt-1/2 tsp

For Guacamole-

  • Avocado-1
  • Onions-1 tbsp finely chopped
  • lemon juice-1 tsp
  • Black paper-1 tsp
  • Cilantro-1 tbsp

For assembling-

  • Lettuce leaves-
  • Cucumber slice-(optional)
  • Sour cream-2 tbsp


Step 1 – In a bowl add all ingredients and mix it well, add  little water at a time and make soft dough. Cover it for 10 minutes.

Step 2 –  Preheat oven to 180c.

Step 2 – After 10 minutes kneed once again and cut dough an 3-5 pieces. Take one piece and with the help of rolling pin roll out it 3-5” diameter circle  thin disc,prick it with the help of fork .

Step 3 – Place all  disc on baking tray,keep baking tray in preheat oven 180c for 10 minutes till it light golden.Take out disc( and fold in rolling pin and keep aside for 30 minutes this is  for soft shell tacos )/ Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the disc in medium heat for 1-2 minutes till little harder but flexible then fold it with the help of tongs make U shape  and cook more 2-4 minutes till nice crispy golden ,take out and keep in tissue paper  make all tacos similar way,this is for hard shell tacos.

Step4-Soak red kidney beans 6-8 hours then pressure cook 5-6 whistles and 2-3 minutes in low flame.Cool it beans remove water and use potato masher and mash beans little keep aside.

Step5-Heat nonstick pan add 1 tbsp oil add  chopped onion saute it on high flame add garlic paste  mix well add chili flakes and tomato puree cook 2-3 minutes ,add tomato sauce mix it add mashed beans salt and cook 3-5 minutes remove from heat add mix Italian herbs mix it keep aside.

Step6-Take all ingredients of salsa in mortar pestle/blander and bland roughly.

Step7-Peel and mashed avocado.Take mashed avocado mix all ingredients well and chilled it for 10 minutes then served.

Step8-In bowl take sour cream add mix Italian herbs,black paper chilled it for 10 minutes.

Step9-Chopped some lettuce and keep aside.

Step10-Assemble tacos-In large plate arrange 4-5 lettuce,then arrange tacos,put some chopped lettuce on each tacos,then add 1 tbsp red beans filling,then add 1 tsp salsa ,then add 1 tbsp guacamole,and 1tsp sour cream ,serve quickly!!!!!!
