Modak is a popular sweet in Maharashtra,India during ganesh chaturthi. This is made with coconut and additional flavor of apricot, dry fruits gives a unique taste.
- Coconut – 1 cup grated
- Milk – 2 cups
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Apricot – 5 to 7dry finely chopped
- Saffron – few threads
- Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
- Pistachio – 1tbs finely chopped
- Almond- 1 tbs finely chopped
- Nutmeg powder – 1/2 tsp
- Ghee – 2 tsp
Step 1 – Heat non-stick pan then add milk,coconut cook for 10 to 15 minutes until mixture become dry then add sugar and cook 5 -10 minutes.
Step 2 – Add ghee, apricot, pistachio, cardamom powder and mix it proper. Cook it for 5-7 minutes in medium flame. Add saffron then keep it aside and let it cool for 10 minutes.
Step 3 -Take small ball from dough and give in to modak shape with the help of hands/ mould. Make all Kodak similar way. Modak are ready to be offered to Lord Ganesha.
