Rava Uttapam

Rava is also known as Semolina/Sooji. This recipe is created keeping health benefits and kids taste in mind. It requires very less oil and contains ingredients which helps in digestion. Presentation is done in such a way that kids likes it very much. This is a pure vegetarian dish.

Ingredients


  • Sooji  – 1 cup
  • Curd  – 1/2 cup
  • Baking Soda -½ tbsp
  • Salt – ½ tbsp
  • Water -1 cup
  • Cooking/Olive oil – 1 tbsp

Toppings

  • Tomato – ½ finely chopped
  • Onion – ½ finely chopped
  • Coriander Leaves – 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Green Chili – 1 finely chopped

Garnishing

  • Yellow &Green Capsicum – 2 slices each
  • Onion slice – 2
  • Cashew nut – 6 pieces
  • Beetroot – 2 tbsp
  • Sprouts – 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 5-6 leaves
  • Coriander leaves – 3-4 leaves
  • Corn- 1 tbsp

Method


Step 1 –  Take one large bowl and mix sooji with water; cover it and keep it for 30 minutes
Step 2 – After 30 minutes add salt and curd into bowl and mix it well Step 3 Add baking soda and mix it properly.
Step 3 – Add baking soda and mix it properly
Step 4 – Add all toppings tomato, onion, green chilies, coriander leaves and mix it well
Step 5 – Heat non-stick pan and add one tea spoon oil
Step 6 – Take batter with help of large round serving spoon and spread in pan
Step 7 – On top of batter put garnishing items in this order:
1. Arrange three capsicum slices in different part of batter and fill it with sprouts and corn
2. Places two onion rings ? Place beetroot and cashew nuts to center of batter
3. Place some beetroots to border of batter for decoration
4. Decorate with coriander and curry leaves
5. Press with spatula all garnishing items so that it can stick with batter well
Cover the pan and cook it for 10 minutes on medium flame
Step 8 – After 10 minutes flip it gently then cover the pan and let it cook for 5 minute on medium flame
Step 9 – Serve with coconut/groundnut/coriander/almond chutney or Sambhar
